Sea Turtle Awareness
Become aware of the plight of the sea turtles in our oceans, become an ambassador of the sea and help raise awareness and spread the word. Six of the seven species of sea turtles are endangered.
In this course, developed in collaboration with Sea Turtle Conservation Curaçao, you will become aware of the fate of these friendly itinerant giants of the seas.
You will learn to recognize and identify the seven species of sea turtles, in particular the three that occur on Curaçao (green turtle, hawksbill turtle and loggerhead turtle).
You’ll also learn about the life cycle of sea turtles and their place in the local marine ecosystem of Curaçao’s coral reefs.
You will learn responsible diving and snorkeling practices when swimming with a sea turtle and be an ambassador for sea turtles and the oceans in general.
What you’ll need:
- Certification as an Open Water diver or higher
- Minimum age 10 years
- Good physical condition
