BRANCH Coral Restoration
This is the latest of the specialties we offer at Porto Mari Sports and one of two specialties in collaboration with a local charity.
The aim of this course is to give students the opportunity to actively participate in the conservation and restoration of our precious coral reef ecosystem under the supervision of a team of expert local marine biologists and experienced diving instructors. And at the same time actively contribute to the continuation and expansion of the BRANCH coral restoration project on Porto Mari.
The course is designed to first expand your knowledge of coral conservation and then put this knowledge into practice in and around one of our nurseries during two coral conservation dives.
This one-day course combines coral restoration efforts, education, awareness and the fun of ecologically conscious diving in one PADI distinctive specialty. It is a practical and accessible introduction to coral restoration, and familiarizes divers with the skills, knowledge and procedures of coral restoration diving. The specialty course is designed to be a safe, responsible and fun introduction to coral restoration diving.
After completing this distinctive specialty course, students receive a certificate confirming their knowledge and skills in coral restoration, understanding healthy reef ecosystems, and training to become a sustainable, responsible diver. Students can also adopt one of the corals and join BRANCH Coral Restoration Foundation’s volunteer program, and thus remain sustainably involved in this project.
